electricfelix updates - Issue #12

Welcome to a season full of new adventures!

I recently had the pleasure to try out a French EV and tested it doing countless fast charging stops, allover France.

Everyone I crossed on my path with the three wheeled Carver seemed to show me the "thumbs up" trying out intercity travel with a 5kWh battery!

All pricing pages on the blog received updates, the trips page reflects reality again and you can still join the ride!

Challenging the Peugeot e-2008 for a real adventure on home turf: Amsterdam - Saint-Robert (Corrèze) 1000 km of fast charging encounters.

Join us for a look at the infrastructure around France and Belgium, Total EV Charge, Allego, IONITY, GreenSpot and some Fastned when returning home.

#alwaysbecharging

With my companion Nander I've been testing some of the newest installations by Total, Allego and others in Belgium and France. Will they withstand a summer full of EV travel (if it happens?)

Many impressions added on my YouTube channel.

The Road to Paris has been (way too) exciting for many years, and 2021 doesn't seem to be all that different. Hardware got added compared to 2019, 2020, but will it functional when you arrive?

Trying out three wheels for a change!

It had to be done, but should you do a range test with a 5kWh battery powered vehicle in winter?

Trying out the Carver electric, a three wheeled EV that in The Netherlands can take the bikelane to get you anywhere. A promised 100km of range, has to be tested in winter! Follow the ride, every step of the way. Schuko charging during lunch, riding the canals of Utrecht and Amsterdam. The Carver experience. Videos and photos included plus a polarsteps log.

Pricing updates!

One never knows if it will last, but right now, even if you drive a Peugeot or a Polestar you can charge up for €0,59/kWh (also known as "the Fastned tariff") at IONITY, using?

The answer to this quiz is found on the always up to date IONITY page of electricfelix.

Rumour has it that free Tango fast charging (in The Netherlands, see the last newsletter) will be over 1st of April. Yet, is this a prank or is it true?

Only one way to find out! Who's going to test this next week?

Cheaper EV fast charging around Europe. Find the best deal at Allego, EnBW, Enel X, Fastned, Ionity, Innogy and other European Fast charging destinations. electricfelix cheap ev fast charging.

The Cheap Fast Charging page had an update (click above), I added Enel X to the ever growing list of HPC suppliers around Europe. Which other companies would you like to see there?

The question I used to get all the time

"Where are you going next?" - Nowadays, I'm hearing it less.

Things are happening though, you can find out hints, links and charging logs as always, on my trips page!

The Big Mac index, for EV's

I'd like to propose a new lighthearted measurement for the progress of fast charging networks expansion around the world. Just as The Economist showed us in the eighties.

McDonald's in The Netherlands started working together with Vattenfall years ago to build out a 50kW charging network around the country. It should be completed at the end of this year (tells you something about the complexity of such a program).

McDonald's Germany only announced creating a new 100kW+ standard with EWE GO last year, the cool thing is that they started out using the well known #hypercharger from the start!

I've been hoping for the announcement of McDonald's France in a long time, but Portugal beat them to the punch! So will France ever suit up and join the game(s)?

electricfelix going full time?

I'm still working in IT in Amsterdam in daily life, but the plan is to take electricfelix to the next level.

If you like what I put together, if I helped you find a working charger in France, when some couples don't (probably because they didn't know about my blog/newsletter) please check out my Patreon page, or petje.af for the Dutch crowd!

See you at a fast charger soon!

Cool URL's

Did you know Chargeprice now has an app?

I've talked about it during 2020, with the Jaguar I-Pace you can "unlock 100kW charging" (if you drive the 2018, 2019,2020 EV400 version) using the emergency lights while charging. You have to enable them before starting the charging session. This will "unlock" 100kW charging till roughly 40% SoC making a 5->50% charge rocket fast ;-] Enjoy the ride JAG drivers!

Did you know that Europe recently crossed the 2000+ mark for 100kW+ charging locations?

Imagine the amount of fast charging locations shattering the 10.000+ barrier in 2025 or so!
